Early deadlines
set for next week’s edition
The
South Reporter announces early deadlines for its next edition due to
the Memorial Day holiday.
The
deadline for classified advertising for the May 28 newspaper is this
Friday, May 22, at 12 noon.
The
deadline for all other advertising, including display ads and legal
notices, is this Friday, May 22, at 5 p.m.
The
South Reporter office in Holly Springs will be closed Monday, May 25,
in observance of Memorial Day and reopen Tuesday, May 26, at 8 a.m.

The
May 28 edition of The South Reporter will be distributed on the regular
schedule next week.
Buck named
chair of universities committee
Speaker
of the House Billy McCoy has announced some appointments, including one
for a Marshall County state representative.
Kelvin
Buck of Holly Springs and District 5 has been named chairman of the
University and Colleges Committee.
Other
recent appointments include – Rep. Toby Barker of Hattiesburg and
District 102 as vice chairman of the University and Colleges Committee,
Rep. Tyrone Ellis of Starkville and District 38 as a member of the
Legislative and Reapportionment and Congressional Redistricting
Committee and Rep. Gary Staples of Laurel and District 88 as a member
of the Ways and Means Committee.
Grand opening
set for new police station
A
grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting to celebrate the new Holly
Springs police headquarters on J.M. Ash Drive has been rescheduled for
June 29.
Ribbon
cutting is set for 10 a.m. and the facilities
will be open for touring from then until 2 p.m., according to chief
Robert Pearson.
The
public is encouraged to attend the grand opening and to receive an
informative tour of the new station.
County’s Relay
for Life June 12-13 at city park
The
annual Marshall County Relay for Life, which benefits the American
Cancer Society, is set for June 12-13 at Sam Coopwood Park. It starts
at 6 p.m. June 12 and ends at 6 a.m. June 13.
The
goal this year is $65,000.
Everyone
is urged to participate in this community-wide event.
