| City police investigate thefts, burglary Holly
Springs police are investigating two thefts and a burglary of a
business reported last week, according to chief Robert Pearson. A
.22 caliber Marlin Rifle, silver in color with black stock and scope
and 100 rounds of ammunition were taken from a residence in the 200
block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Monday, May 8. A
1999 green Ford Taurus was reported stolen from the 300 block of
Johnson Park Sunday, May 10. The owner stated the vehicle was last seen
Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. The vehicle was found burned in the
county. Officers responded to a burglary call in
the 500 block of Van Dorn Friday, May 8. A brown pit bull, one Pioneer
CD player, and one Panasonic TV/radio were missing. The owner of the
business arrived Friday morning and found two window panes had been
broken out of the front of the building. Two vehicles were also broken
into. Officers responded to these additional
activities last week – speeding, 1; driving while license suspended, 2;
no driver's license, 2; no proof of insurance, 2; disregard for traffic
device, 1; expired tag, 1; possession of marijuana in motor vehicle, 2;
open container, 1; public drunk, 2; disorderly conduct, 1; resisting
arrest, 1; trespassing, 1; and domestic violence-simple assault, 1. Open House The
Holly Springs Police Department will host open house and a ribbon
cutting of the new police station on Monday, June 1, at 10 a.m. The new
station is located at 538 J.M. Ash Drive in the renovated Williams
Clinic Building. The public is invited to drop in during the day and
tour the facility.
