Health fair set
for May 14 in Holly Springs
Alliance
HealthCare System, Williams Medical Clinic and the Alliance Charitable
Foundation of Marshall County are hosting the ninth annual Eddie L.
Smith Community Health Fair on Thursday, May 14.
It
will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Eddie L. Smith Jr.
Multi-Purpose Building, 235 North Memphis Street, Holly Springs.
This
year’s theme, “A Healthy Commitment in Changing Times,” also is the
theme for National Hospital Week.
At
the Health Fair, Alliance HealthCare System will focus on the
capabilities and services available in the new Alliance Medical Arts
Building., as well as the plans for a new hospital. Free health
screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose, and body density
tests will be available at no charge. In addition, coupons for free PSA
tests used to detect prostate cancer will be available for men. There
will be a variety of booths distributing information on the many
health-related programs, services, and providers available in our town
and surrounding area. Hot dogs and beverages will be served for lunch.
This
year, the Health Fair is focusing exclusively on adults and organizers
anticipate an attendance of approximately 500 people. On leaving, all
attendees will be asked to fill out a health indicators survey and then
be given a free T-shirt.
The
members of the
Health Fair committee are very excited about this year’s Health Fair
and look forward to providing the community with information about
their health and available health care.
On
May
12, a Men’s Health Forum and dinner will be held in the Multi-Purpose
Building at 6 p.m. The topic of discussion will be pro-active personal
health and prostate cancer.
On
May 13, a Women’s
Health Luncheon will be held in the Multi-Purpose Building at 12 noon.
The topic of discussion for that gathering also will be pro-active
personal health. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP to

Parks and
Recreation plans youth program
The
City of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department will be having a
Youth Summer Program for boys and girls ages 7-12.
The
summer program is set for June 1-July 3 on Monday through Friday from 8
a.m. until noon at the Eddie L. Smith Jr. Multi-Purpose Building.
The
