The Marshall Academy golf team recently qualified for the North State AA Tournament. The Patriots were the hosts for that tournament, which was scheduled Monday of this week at Kirkwood National in Holly Springs. The MA golf team finished the regular season with two tournament wins. The
Patriots placed first out of 10 teams in the recent Lee Academy
Invitational at Clarksdale Country Club. Their team total was 328. Zack Pritchett finished one shot out of low medalist first place with his second place finish and a score of 75. Pillow Academy took second with a team total of 331; Kirk third at 341; and Indianola fourth at 354. MA’s
individual scores were Pritchett 75, Hank Owens 77, Clay Casey 85,
Taylor Maurey 91, John Austin Valentine 116, and Michael Farese 120. The
Patriots had to record a 370 or better at Clarksdale in order to
qualify for the North State Tournament, so the 328 easily got the team
to the big event. MA also placed first recently in its own invitational tournament at Kirkwood (a nine-hole tourney.) The team score was 182. Pritchett was low medalist for the whole tournament. Kirk finished second with a score of 184. Magnolia Heights finished third with a team score of 201. MA
individual scores were Pritchett 38, Taylor Maurey and Hank Owens both
46, Clay Casey 52, John Austin Valentine 53, and Michael Farese 61. The
Patriots placed fourth at Dogwoods Golf Course in the Kirk Academy
Tournament. MA finished fourth out of 10 teams, playing without two of
its top four players. |
