City hall open Saturday for absentee voting
Absentee voting is available for the City of Holly
Springs primary election.
The
city clerk’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
for absentee voting. It will also be open Saturday, April 25, and
Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. May 2 is the last day to vote
absentee in person in the city clerk’s office. The deadline for receipt of mailed absentee ballots is
Monday, May 4, in order to be counted for the primary election. All candidates are also reminded that Tuesday, April 28,
is the day when campaign finance reports are due in the clerk’s office. All voting in the Tuesday, May 5, primary will take
place at the fire station from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If a primary runoff election is needed, it will be held
on Tuesday, May 19.
Byhalia chamber lunch scheduled for Thursday
The next Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce membership
luncheon will be held Thursday, April 23. It will be hosted by and held at Trinity Mission Health
and Rehab, 111 Chase Street, Byhalia. The Staff Person of the Year Award will be presented.
The topic for the luncheon will be “The Positives of Physical Therapy.” For more information, call 662-838-8127.
NAACP, Rust schedule two political debates
The
Marshall County Chapter of the NAACP, in conjunction with the Rust
College Mass Communication Department, will sponsor two political
debates. Candidates for Holly Springs aldermen positions will
debate Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m., and candidates for mayor will
debate Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. All candidates are invited to participate. Both
debates will be at the WURC studios on the Rust campus. The debates
will be aired live on WURC-TV cable channel 2 and multicast on WURC FM
88.1 and WKRA FM 92.7.
County school board sets planning retreat
The Marshall County Board of Education will meet for a
retreat April 25 at a private lodge in the Temperance Hill area. This is not a public meeting, according to an
announcement from the school district. There
will be discussion of strategic plans for the district. No action will
be taken on any items discussed. The meeting is a planning meeting only.
