Several
Marshall Academy athletes will be moving on to the North State
Championship at Washington School in Greenville this week. 
They placed in the top four during the District 1-AA Meet last week at Clarksdale. The
relay team of Tyler Childers, Hank Owens, Elgin Lafever and Joey Brock
finished first in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:36.47. Josh Vanderburg, Jake Delashmit, Neil Murphy and Parker James placed fourth in the 4x800 meter relay. Their time was 11:30.11. The relay team of Childers, Owens, Jordan Brock and Lafever finished second in the 4x100 with a time of 46.8. John Tomlinson took second place in the 110 meter hurdles. His time was 17.12. Two Patriots placed in the top four in the 100 meter dash – Childers first (11.44) and Owens third (11.8). Owens finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.9. Patriots qualifying for North Half in district field events were Joey Brock and Jordan Brock, along with Owens and Tomlinson. Jordan
Brock placed third in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump. Joey
Brock took fourth in the long jump. Tomlinson and Owens placed third
and fourth, respectively, in the shotput competition. Also, one Lady Patriot is going to North Half. Callie Clanton placed first in the district in the high jump (4-9).
