Prom stirs memories
I had not been to a prom in 30 years.
But I was told I had to go to this one, and actually I would not have missed it for anything else – including the Final Four on TV.
Let’s count our blessings
In these days of people losing their jobs, having their houses lost to foreclosure, going to the food bank when they never did before, having to live in shelters, seeing their lives shattered, there are still things to be thankful for.
Not a bad cast list
A vampire, vegetables, President Obama and Bruce Springsteen - not a bad cast list for my first column back after a wee bit of a break.

Travelin’ cowboy update - John Wayne is where...
John Wayne Haynes
As of... April 7, 2009 ~
Brenda Bragg talked to John this past weekend; she reports that John was in a snowstorm week before last. This week, the wind has been like a huge windstorm, he said. He was seven miles from the New Mexico border Saturday and exactly 200 miles from where he’s headed -- two more weeks to get there and everybody is doing good.
Online update from Ashley, John’s daughter -- Just wanted to update everyone on how my Dad and the rest of the gang are doing...I talked to him last week and he’s in Texas. There was quite a bad snow storm heading his way but fortunately he found a very nice family who was going to let him stay there and wait out the bad weather. They’ll be back on the trail once the snow lets up. Thanks for everyone keeping him in your thoughts and prayers...it means so much.
Mary Skelton talked to John Monday -- he’s in New Mexico!
