Gardner improved to 3-0 on the mound as he went the distance in the run
ruled shortened game. He struck out six and walked none. Marshall
scored early and often, taking a 9-0 lead after two innings of play.
Hunter Bolden got the Patriots on the board in the first as he started
a two out rally. He singled, stole second and was singled home by

Springs High School senior Bobby Barksdale will compete in the State
Powerlifting Meet Saturday at Mississippi Coliseum (The Big House) in
Jackson. Barksdale advances after winning first place at both the
region and north half meets. In the north half at Louisville, Barksdale
lifts were squat (550 lbs.), bench (370) and deadlift (530) for a total
of 1,450. At the regional meet in Charleston, his total pounds were
1,400. Barksdale is coached at Holly High by Clifford Brown. |
Potts Camp sweeps Coldwater On March 23, the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals fast-pitch softball team won two games at home versus the Coldwater Cougars. The Lady Cardinals, in game one, hit the ball great throughout and dominated the Lady Cougars. The final score was Potts Camp 18 and Coldwater 0. Full Story
MA runners win ribbons Marshall Academy hosted its first track meet of the season March 25, running events only. The junior high boys took the championship trophy, while the varsity boys finished second. Other schools participating included Magnolia Heights, Kirk, North Delta and Delta. Full Story

Indians drop district contest By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The Byhalia Indians gave up four runs in the first inning to the Senatobia Warriors in a district game at home March 24. Andrew
Brown was sent to the hill first and he walked the first batter. The
next Warrior up tried a bunt. Brown quickly retrieved the ball and
threw out the runner advancing to second. But the Warriors would gather
a couple of hits and score four runs in quick order. Brown then struck
out the next batter and the infield had a run down at the third for the

Rodeo set for April 3-4 at Barton The Deep South Championship Rodeo will be held this weekend in Barton. The
event, produced by J Bar B Rodeo Co., is set for Friday and Saturday,
April 3 and 4, at 7 p.m. at the Robert Rainey Jr. Memorial Arena, 928
