County school board to meet in Byhalia
The
Marshall County Board of Education will meet for the regular board
meeting on Tuesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. at Byhalia High School. It is
located at 278 Highway 309 North.
Holly Springs schedules annual Easter egg hunt
The
Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is having its annual
Easter egg hunt on Good Friday, April 10, at the Eddie L. Smith Jr.
Multi-Purpose Building.
The Easter egg hunt, for children ages 10 and under,
begins at 10 a.m. The grand prize is $50.
In case of rain, the Easter egg hunt will be held inside
the Multi-Purpose Building.

Candidate forum to be re-broadcast Thursday
The Political Science Department at Rust College hosted
a “Meet the Candidate Forum” this past Monday night.
It was broadcast live from the studio of Rust
College’s RC-TV2. It will be re-broadcast on Thursday, April
2, at 6:30 p.m.
All candidates running in the 2009 City of Holly Springs
election were invited to participate.
Holly Springs officers make arrest for assault
Holly
Springs police officers made one arrest on an aggravated assault charge
and another on felony shoplifting and trespass charges last week,
according to chief Robert Pearson.
Elheldredge Balfour, 18, of
Holly Springs, was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated
assault, he said. The charges stem from the shooting of Nathaniel
Miller, 38, March 20, in which Balfour is a suspect, he said.
Emmett
McGee, 51, of Holly Springs, was arrested Sunday and charged with
felony shoplifting and trespass. Pearson said the arrest was made after
McGee was alleged to have been seen on a video camera shoplifting
several times at a store.
Officers responded to these additional
activities for the week ending March 23: speeding (4); no tag (1); no
proof of insurance (3); disregard for traffic device (1); reckless
driving (1); petit larceny (1); disturbance (4); threat (1); missing
money (1); missing person (1); malicious mischief (1); violation of dog
ordinance (1); simple assault/domestic violence (2); and violation of
loud music ordinance (2).
