Indians beat SBEC
By BARRY BURLESON
The Byhalia baseball team put on a hitting clinic March 10 and and sent SBEC (Southern Baptist Education Center) packing after just five innings.
“We hit the ball well, and we played good defense,” coach Bubba Brown said. “It was a good night.”
Five Indians had two hits each in the 13-3 home win.
Kyle Seymour led the attack with a triple and a double.
Kevin Fitzpatrick, Pat Malone and Mitchell Cartwright each had a double and a single. Tavaris Neal connected for two singles.
Getting a single each were Andrew Brown and Jalen Applewhite.
Malone earned the pitching win. Neal threw one inning of relief.
The Indians improved to 5-4 on the season. They stand 0-2 in the district with that race really heating up the rest of the season.
“From here on out, except for one or two games, we will be playing district ball,” Coach Brown said. “I feel like we’re ready.”
Byhalia will host Memphis-area Home Education Association (MHEA) Thursday at 6 p.m.
Next Tuesday, March 24, the Indians will host Senatobia starting at 5 p.m.
