Byhalia beats rival Byers
By BARRY BURLESON
The Byhalia Indians split a pair of games on the baseball diamond Saturday at home.
Coach Bubba Brown’s team fell 8-6 to the Memphis-area Home Education Association (MHEA) Eagles.
Andrew Brown took the pitching loss.
Then the Indians bounced back for a 24-5 win over H.W. Byers later that day.
“We had multiple hits,” Coach Brown said. “Everybody on the team hit the baseball, and we had some good defensive work.”
Mitchell Cartwright hit a home run for Byhalia.
Rodrecus Brown was the winning pitcher, and Pat Malone threw in relief.
The Indians hosted Southern Baptist Educational Center (SBEC) Tuesday. They go to Ripley Friday at 5 p.m. and then host Lake Cormorant Saturday at 4 p.m.
Next Monday-Thursday (spring break week), Byhalia will host the Indian Tournament.
