By BARRY BURLESON
The Byhalia baseball team is at .500 to begin the season with district play starting this week.
The Indians (2-2) have lost one and won one versus both Center Hill and Horn Lake.
Coach Bubba Brown’s squad beat Center Hill 8-3, lost to Center Hill 10-0, beat Horn Lake 5-4 and lost to Horn Lake 14-4.
“We’re a very young team, with only one senior,” Brown said.
That lone senior, Andrew Brown, is off to a 2-0 start on the mound.
Coach Brown said his team has been hitting well, with multiple hits in all four early season outings.
The Indians were scheduled to visit Independence Tuesday. They go to Lewisburg Thursday at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, Byhalia will host a pair of teams. The Indians will play the Memphis-area Home Education Association (MHEA) Eagles at 11 a.m. and then face county rival H.W. Byers at 3 p.m. At 1 p.m. that day, Byers will play MHEA. Next Tuesday, March 10, Byhalia will host Southern Baptist Educational Center (SBEC) at 5 p.m.
