To read, you must stop being afraid of your books
It was Mortimer J. Adler who with Charles Lincoln Van Doren, famously wrote many years ago a small volume called “How to Read a Book.” It is the standard bestselling guide on how to read books and access information.
Letter to the Editor
Thanks to Cayce VFD:
I am writing to publicly thank the Cayce Fire Department and praise its kind responses to my mother’s needs during recent power outages.
During outages from storms Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, while I was an hour away at work, my mother called 911 for medical assistance. She’s on an electrically-powered oxygen machine and, in a stressed state, could not safely get to extra canisters that would provide her oxygen during the power outages. Cayce fire volunteers showed up to help, even changing the batteries in her flashlights. Neighbors also showed up quickly to check on her.
I’m sure they all had plenty to do that night but they stopped what they were doing and literally went the extra mile. We thank God for them and all those who reflect God’s love in like manner. May God richly bless them for their kind, thoughtful deeds - and hearts.
