Boatwright honored Sigma
Alpha Lambda is proud to announce that Preston C. Boatwright of Holly
Springs has recently become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha
Lambda, national leadership and honors organization at Mississippi
State University. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and
honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic
achievement and providing members with opportunities for community
service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.
Dean’s List at NECC Two
hundred, ninety-five Northeast Community College students achieved a
3.5-3.9 grade point average for the 2007 fall semester and as a result
have been named to the distinguished Dean’s List. Named to the
list were: Jacqueline Nicole Byrd of Potts Camp; Trinity Trenett
Franklin of Lamar; Javian Carlos Traylor of Holly Springs; Amelia Elise
Wilkerson of Potts Camp; Corey Richard Childers of Hickory Flat and
Jimmy Kaleb Jemison of Ashland.
Studying in Taiwan
Tanaka Shipp, of Byhalia, is a student at Jackson
State University in Jackson. She a senior sociology major and the
youngest daughter of Nonnie Ingram Shipp. Tanaka is leaving for a trip
to Taiwan on Feb. 15. She will be the first student from Jackson State
University to participate in an international exchange student program
with Diwan University in Madou, Taiwan. This is a five month program
where she will attend classes at Diwan as if she were at her home
institution. Tanaka also will attend Fu Gen University in Taipei,Taiwan
this summer, June-August, for two months, along with other students
from Jackson State for a language program. She would like to thank all
of my community sponsors for their support as well as her friends and
family who have helped make the trip a success. |
