Willie Mae Davis
Willie Mae
Davis, 77, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 12, 2008 at Alliance HealthCare
System. A member of Antioch MB Church in Byhalia, she was a former
member of the Eastern Star and a U.S. Army veteran. She was a retired
nurse supervisor at the former Care Inn Nursing Home in Holly Springs.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 22 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home
Chapel with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
She
leaves three daughters, Rose M. Robinson of St. Paul, Minn., Christine
Jones of Chicago, Ill., Youanda Thompson of Fayetteville, N.C.; a
goddaughter, Debra Muse of Holly Springs; six grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
Sadie Binella Houston Ellis
Sadie
Binella Houston Ellis, 98, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 15, at her home.
The widow of Mose Ellis, she was a member of the church mother board.
Services
were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 20 at Chulahoma MB Church, where she was a
member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Tony Taylor officiated.
J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She
leaves a daughter, Loretha Davis of Holly Springs; a sister, Minnie
King of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and
30 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were
Anthony Hughes, Curtis Wilkins, Earnest Jr. Wilkins, Willie Earl
Wilkins, Micheal Wilkins, Fredrick Hamer, Lorenzo Wilkins, Curtis
Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were Nicholas Davis, Milton D. Hardin,
Michael Hughes, Travis Hardin, Roy Davis, William Davis, Tony Raimy and
Chester Davis.
Sylvester Gulledge
Sylvester
Gulledge, 74, died Dec. 4, 2008 at The Regional Medical Center. He
professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Isom Chapel CME Church.
Later he joined Bethlehem Baptist Church, under the leadership of
Pastor Collins.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on
Dec. 13 at N.J. Ford and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis, Tenn. Rev.
David Gulledge officiated. Burial was in Holly Springs.
He
leaves his wife, Mary Gulledge; a daughter, Brenda Gulledge; three
sons, Marcus Gulledge, Brandon Gulledge of Minneapolis, Minn., Rickey
Gulledge of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepbrother, Nathaniel Burke; a sister,
Lula Dukes; a brother, Henry Gulledge of Holly Springs; and ten
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, David Gulledge and Albert Gulledge; and five sisters, Effie
Humpries, Ada Nevel, Lorine Jones, Georgia Lewis, Olivia Walker.
Pallbearers were Willie Brown, Carlos Shaw, Danny Sills, Gary Jones, Shawn Brown and Runrico Brown.
Charles Cury McAllister
Charles Cury McAlister, 50, died Dec. 17 at his home. He was owner of Precision Metal Works.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 20 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Abbeville.
He
is survived by his family of friends who cared for him, Marsha Parrish,
Linda and Tom Swindle, Selina Gaines, Jim Mitchell and Sam Asbury and
their families; a sister, Karen McAllister of Southaven, his aunts,
Carol Martin of Bartlett, Tenn., and Sharon Price of Capitan, NM; his
uncles, Jack Wright of TX, Lee Wright of Byhalia, David Wright of TX,
Butch Wright and Jimmy Wright, both of NM.
The family requests that donations be made to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Floy Gardner Wilson

Gardner Wilson, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, died Dec. 19 at Baptist DeSoto
Hospital in Southaven. The widow of James T. Wilson, she was a retired
factory worker at Carrier Air Conditioning, Inc.
Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel
with burial in Carey Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Frank Feathers officiated.
She
leaves three daughters, Ann Lollar of Hickory Flat, Bonnie McClure of
Mt. Pleasant, Phyllis Carman of Olive Branch; two brothers, Howard
Gardner of Mt. Pleasant, Glenwood Cothern of Lamar; a sister, Allene
Teel of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and
two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded
in death by brothers, D.D. Cothern, J.W. Cothern; a sister, Marie
Cothern; her stepmother, who raised her, Aurelia Gardner; and a
great-grandson, Dominique McClure.
Pallbearers
were Ronald Lollar, Michael Westmoreland, Eddie Catledge, Shane
Jorgensen, Robert McClure, Gerald Lollar, Kenneth McClure and Jon
Engler.
