Troops enjoy
Christmas party

Staff Writer Members
of Detachment 1, Company A, 2/198 Combat Arms Batallion were given
Christmas with all the trimmings December 7 at the National Guard
Armory in Holly Springs.
About
40 military troops
and their loved ones were fed a delicious turkey and dressing dinner
prepared by Sheriff Kenny Dickerson and his staff. Ronnie and Brenda
Luther with the Clydesdale Christmas Store footed the bill and numbers
of volunteers, including the men and women of the Collins-Hurdle VFW
Post 5697, helped serve lunch. Full Story

Holly Springs School District has been advised it will receive a
$490,000 grant to continue its distance learning initiative for another

Clinic celebrates opening By BARRY BURLESON Editor Dr. Kenneth Williams said the the celebration of a new 24,000-square-foot medical clinic is not about him. He
was addressing a large crowd on hand December 10 for the ribbon-cutting
ceremony at Williams Medical Clinic, which recently relocated to
Crescent Meadow Drive. “This is not Dr. Williams’ clinic,” he said. “This is the community’s clinic.” Full Story

Byhalia police officers respond to accidents, shooting, burglary The Byhalia Police Department responded to 55 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – 10 alarm calls, seven motor
vehicle accidents, one burglary, six disturbances, two domestic-related
calls, one shooting, eight escorts, two animal-related calls, one
juvenile-related call, three assists, five medical assists, two fires
and seven miscellaneous calls. Byhalia police also made four arrests.
Congressman hosting Economic Stimulus Forum • Childers prepares local projects for possible funding through upcoming stimulus package Congressman
Travis Childers will host an Economic Stimulus Forum Thursday, Dec. 18,
to brief local leaders on potential funding for North Mississippi
projects from the economic stimulus package that Congress is expected
