Three members of the Marshall Academy staff were recently honored by the Mississippi Private School Association. Diane
Greer, elementary principal and guidance counselor at Marshall Academy,
was recently recognized at the State Teachers’ Convention in Jackson
for 25 years of exemplary service to the MPSA. Greer
began at Marshall Academy as kindergarten teacher, serving 15 years at
that position. She was then promoted to elementary principal in 1998
where she continues to serve. Greer holds three degrees from Ole Miss –
B.S. in home economics education, B.A.E. in elementary education, and
M. ED. in curriculum and instruction. “Ms. Greer has been both an outstanding teacher and administrator at Marshall Academy,” said headmaster Jane Hubbard. Renee
Tice was also recognized as a nominee for MPSA State Elementary Teacher
of the Year. Tice has been teaching for 33 years, serving 22 years as
first grade teacher at MA. Tice received her B.A. in elementary
education from Memphis State University. “She has
dedicated many years to teaching our children in Marshall County, and
is a very deserving recipient of this award,” Hubbard said. Linda
McKinney was recognized as a nominee for the MPSA Secondary Teacher of
the Year. McKinney has taught at MA for 15 of her 16 years. She
received her B.A. degree in secondary education from Ole Miss. McKinney
majored in history with a minor in Spanish and English. She teaches
Spanish and economics at MA. She also sponsors the student council and
has served as cheerleader sponsor. In addition, McKinney was selected
as a top three finalist for Secondary Teacher of the Year and was
awarded a cash prize. “Marshall Academy is proud
of these outstanding educators and looks forward to many more
successful years under their leadership,” Hubbard said.
