Holly Springs chamber announces lighting contest
The
Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce will judge the lighting contest on
Friday evening, December 19. Application forms are available at the
chamber office, 104 E. Gholson, or call 662-252-2943.
Holiday lighting competition next week in Byhalia
“Light
Up the Town,” sponsored by the Byhalia Garden Club, is set for December
14-19. The lighting competition is for residential and commercial
properties. Cash prizes will go to the winners in the following
categories - best overall, most original and best window and/or door.
The
Byhalia Lions Club is sponsoring the Clydesdale Christmas Auction to
benefit the Clydesdale Christmas Store. The auction will be held
Friday, Dec. 19, at the Southern Corner, downtown Byhalia, from 7 p.m.
to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 each at the door. Call Kevin Hughes,

Government offices release holiday closing schedules
Marshall County offices along with its municipalities (Potts Camp, Holly Springs and Byhalia) announce holiday closings.
County
and city government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec.
25-26, for Christmas holidays; and Thursday and Friday, Jan. 1-2, 2009,
for New Year’s holidays.
Meal program available in Chulahoma community
On
December 1, a congregate meal site program was established at the
Chulahoma Community Center. Hot meals will be served Monday-Friday
beginning at 10:30 a.m. and continuing until 1:30 p.m. This program
will be serving meals free to those 60 years and older and the disabled.
There will also be games, entertainment, arts and crafts, and occasional health education programs.

through Friday and speak to Queen Dean, the director, or Marshall

Christmas edition, Letters to Santa coming next week
The South Reporter will publish its annual Christmas edition next week, December 18.
It
will include Letters to Santa, holiday-related photos and greetings
from businesses and elected officials. Ad deadline is Thursday, Dec. 11.
