Police nab burglary suspect
Holly Springs police officers arrested Boyce Waller, 36, of Holly Springs, on burglary charges on January 20, said chief Robert Pearson.
Waller was arrested after a homeowner in the 100 block of Maury came home and found Waller inside the storage shed.
Pearson said this is the seventh arrest of Waller on burglary charges in less than a year and the fifth time in less than a year he has been charged with grand larceny.
The homeowner said a $300 tool set and a $275 Troy-Bilt blower was stolen from the shed.
Also arrested Jan. 20 in a separate incident was Michael McGaughey, 29, of Memphis, Tenn., on an outstanding warrant charging grand larceny.
Officers responded to the following incidents for the week ending Jan. 22 – driving while license suspended (2); no proof of insurance (2); no tag/expired tag (3); reckless driving (1); expired driver’s license/no driver’s license (2); handicapped parking (1); simple assault (1); possession of marijuana (1); and driving under the influence (2).
Pearson reminded dog owners that license tags for their pets are available for purchase at the police department on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Registration of dogs and proof of rabies vaccination is now required by ordinance for all city residents.
