The fifth annual Bi-County Basketball Tournament tips off this week at Ashland High School. Boys and girls teams from Marshall and Benton counties will be competing for the coveted crowns. Schools participating include Ashland, Byhalia, H.W. Byers, Hickory Flat, Holly Springs and Potts Camp. Tournament champs from past years are: - 2004 at Rust College – Holly Springs Hawks and Ashland Lady Blue Devils.
- 2005 at Northwest Community College – Holly Springs Hawks and Byhalia Lady Indians.
- 2006 at Hickory Flat High School – H.W. Byers Lions and H.W. Byers Lady Lions.
- 2007 at Holly Springs High School – Byhalia Indians and H.W. Byers Lady Lions.
The tournament slate follows. Thursday, Dec. 4 - 4 p.m., Potts Camp girls vs. Holly Springs; 5:30 p.m., H.W. Byers boys
vs. Potts Camp; 7 p.m., Ashland girls vs. Hickory Flat; 8:30 p.m.,
Ashland boys vs. Holly Springs.
Friday, Dec. 5 - 4 p.m., H.W. Byers girls vs. Potts Camp-Holly Springs winner; 5:30
p.m., Byhalia boys vs. Ashland-Holly Springs winner; 7 p.m., Byhalia
girls vs. Ashland-Hickory Flat winner; 8:30 p.m., Hickory Flat boys vs.
H.W. Byers- Potts Camp winner.
Saturday, Dec. 6 - 4 p.m., girls consolation game; 5:30 p.m., boys consolation game; 7
p.m., girls championship game; 8:30 p.m., boys championship game.
