Sam McClatchy named president of First State Bank, Holly Springs

Hurdle Jr., chairman of the board of directors at First State Bank,
announces the appointment of veteran banker Sam P. McClatchy Jr. as
president of the Holly Springs-based bank.
The hiring followed a unanimous vote of the board at its regularly-scheduled November meeting.
McClatchy
brings to First State Bank more than 28 years of banking experience,
most recently serving as executive vice president of Paragon National
Bank in Memphis, Tenn.
He received his Bachelor
of Business Administration degree in banking and finance from the
University of Mississippi in 1974. During his career, he has also
completed studies at the Southeastern School of Advanced Commercial
Lending, conducted at Vanderbilt University, and has completed the
Southeastern Commercial Lending School. He has held his Series 6
license through the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD)
and was a licensed Mississippi Life Insurance agent.
McClatchy
began his career as assistant treasurer at Cook Industries Inc.,
Memphis, in 1974, a position he held until 1980. At that time, he began
his banking career as a cash management consultant for First National
Bank of Chicago and subsequently was affiliated with First Tennessee
Bank, First National Bank, Union Planters National Bank and Trustmark
National Bank. While at Trustmark, he served as president in Tupelo,
Corinth and as North Region president in Memphis. He left Trustmark to
assume the position of Memphis Region president of Pulaski Bank &
Trust, Little Rock.
Throughout his career, banks
managed by McClatchy have shown significant increases in deposits and
loans. He has created prototype operations, re-engineered processes
within banks and managed cost control systems among his many
accomplishments.
He has also been active in
professional and civic endeavors, serving as a member of the board of
trustees of the Barret School of Banking, a member of the board of
directors of the MidSouth Chapter of the American Red Cross, and as
past chairman of the board of trustees of the Southeastern School of
Commercial Lending.
