Former Byhalia Indian second team All-State
Five Northwest Mississippi Community College football players have earned recognition for their outstanding play by being selected for post-season honors.
Northwest finished with an overall record of 6-4 and was runner-up in the MACJC north division with a 5-1 mark.
Heading up the list is sophomore defensive Chris Strong of Batesville who was named All-Region XXIII and first team MACJC All-State. Strong collected 45 tackles this season for the Rangers, including 41 solos. Strong also had eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and returned an interception 69 yards for a score.
Joining Strong on the first team All-State is freshman cornerback Bud Barksdale of Batesville.
Barksdale had 34 tackles and led Northwest with nine pass break-ups. Barksdale also tied for the team-lead with two interceptions.
A trio of Rangers collected second team All-State merits including freshman receiver Marquise Green, and sophomore linebackers Thomas Majors and Chris Clinton.
Green, of Byhalia, led Northwest with 34 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdowns.
