defending Class 2A state champs trailed 47-46 at the half. But they
shifted into high gear in the second half - outscoring the Lady Hawks
50-29 to secure a 96-76 victory. “Myrtle gave us
an extremely good challenge,” coach Jason Thompson said. “It was a
tremendous early season test. We definitely showed what we’re capable
of doing. We played a good ball game.” Amanda
Jones and Rachel Jones combined for 56 points - Amanda with 29 and
Rachel with 27. Alexis Hardaway added 16 and Symone Gorman 11. The Lady Lions (6-0) were scheduled to host Byhalia on Tuesday of this week. They visit Class 4A Oxford Thursday. The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals bounced back from a Friday night loss to Byhalia and knocked off Baldwyn 65-60. “Baldwyn is very athletic,” coach Tana Miller said. “We played much better.” Potts Camp led 28-24 at the half and then outscored the Lady Bearcats 20-11 in the third quarter. Three Lady Cardinals scored in double digits - Kenyotta Jenkins with 19, Nieshia Stinson with 14 and Queen Dean with 13. Potts Camp (4-5) was slated to host Lake Cormorant Tuesday. The Lady Cardinals go to Falkner Friday night. Next Tuesday, Nov. 18, they go to Lake Cormorant.
