| Alliance foundation gets grant
MultiPlan, Inc., the nation’s oldest and largest independent PPO network, recently awarded Alliance Charitable Foundation of Marshall County (ACF) a Rural Health Outreach Grant. This organization was selected from 138 applications and was one of only 10 to be awarded a grant through this year’s program. With these funds, ACF will form and launch a walking club, the Holly Springs Hoofers, for the entire community. “We are very grateful for this wonderful opportunity to help our community improve its health,” said George Gwin, executive director of Alliance Charitable Foundation. “The walking club, modeled after those in other towns and cities, will be open to any and all who wish to participate. These funds will enable us to purchase pedometers and print guidelines and diaries.” Since 1995, MultiPlan has awarded nearly $300,000 to rural facilities participating in its networks to enable them to introduce or expand health services, educational programs, screenings and other healthcare related endeavors that support their communities. “The healthcare needs of people in rural communities may vary greatly from one area to the next,” notes Dr. Paul Goldstein, vice president and chief medical officer of MultiPlan. “Through this grant, we’re able to support our participating providers and their communities in a way that lets them decide the best use of these funds according to their unique needs.” For more information about this program and other community-related programs offered to MultiPlan hospitals, visit the website at multiplan.com. |
