City Personals Grady Brooks celebrates 7th Lou Jones entertained family over the weekend. Those who were here were Lauralee Ammons from Orange Beach, Ala., her daughter, Donna McGinnis of Baton Rouge, La., Kelly Tipton and Mary Margaret Jones of Germantown, Tenn., and Camille Valentine of Collierville, Tenn. The group enjoyed visiting with one another, attending church on Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church and touring through the town. Happy belated birthday wishes go out to Mary Beth Gilliam, who flipped a number on Sunday. Can you guess which one? Happy birthday! Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., was the weekend guest of Mary Clay and Gene Brooks and children, Caitlyn and Grady. While here, he also visited with Laura Wheeler. Johnny and Rita (Cochran) Langus of Mobile, Ala., were in town over the weekend for the Kudzu Festival. While here, they visited with old friends and family, having a wonderful time doing both! A local group of ladies enjoyed a long weekend in Kiawah Island, SC.. Those who travelled on the trip were Bea Green, Robin Seale, Diane Greer, Sally Permenter, Frances Gresham, Carole Karr, Vivian Smith and Linda Stubbs. The ladies enjoyed relaxing on the island and taking little day trips in for shopping. Carole Webb of Nashville, Tenn., and Wesley Webb of Oxford, were the guests of Vicki and Walter Webb over the weekend. Lequanda Calandra Payne and Taurence Montice Isom will exchange vows on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Holly Springs. A reception will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church Gymnasium in Holly Springs immediatley following the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dora Balfour Robertson of Memphis, Tenn., and Harvey and Constance Payne in Holly Springs. Lequanda is the granddaughter of the late Dock Balfour and Mattie Balfour of Byhalia and the late Willie Payne and Glenda Payne of Holly Springs. Lequanda is a 1997 graduate of Holly Springs High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Memphis with a bachelor of science in business administration. She is employed at the Marshall County Justice Court as a deputy clerk. The groom is the son of Henry and Beverly Isom of Holly Springs and the grandson of Emma Jordan and Iree Tripplett and the late Floyce Isom Sr. and Elizabeth Isom. Taurence is a 1997 graduate of Holly Springs High School. He served three years in the United States Air Force and is currently employed in law enforcement at the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). All relatives and friends are invited to attend. The couple will reside in Holly Springs. Museuming Wake up and go vote Next week is voting time and a time of urgency for us all. It is very important for all of us to get to the voting polls and cast that all-important vote. One thing I hate is apathy – a no-care attitude. We should all care about who gets elected, as it very definitely affects all our lives.
