Kudzu
Festival this week in downtown Holly Springs
The
Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Kudzu Festival
in downtown Holly Springs this week, October 22-25.
It
will include a carnival, crafts, barbecue, 5K run, entertainment and
more.

Happee Day Shows will provide rides, carnival games with prizes and
everyone’s favorite carnival foods.
Local
crafts people are invited and encouraged to show off their talents,
along with arts and crafts vendors from several other states. For those
who enjoy cooking, there will be a Kansas City Barbecue sanctioned
competition. Athletes can participate in the 5K run on Saturday
morning, sponsored by American Pacific/Design the Space.
The
festival will feature a variety of entertainment. Braden Gray &
Loose Gravel, from northeast Mississippi, are slated as the headline
entertainment Saturday, Oct. 25. The lead singer and band have been
playing at fairs, festivals and events together since May of 2007 all
over the Mid-South. They play modern country music from
artists such
as Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt and their
growing
list of originals.
The
Holly Springs Chamber of
Commerce and the VFW are raffling a motor scooter with proceeds helping
to bring the Veterans Memorial Wall to Holly Springs in November.
Tickets,
$20 each, are available from chamber board members or any VFW member.
Only 500 will be sold. The lucky winner will be drawn at 10 p.m. on
Saturday at the Kudzu Festival.

Byhalia,
Potts Camp set curfews for Halloween
The
Marshall County towns of Byhalia and Potts Camp announce Halloween
curfews for Friday, Oct. 31
The
curfews for both towns will be 10 p.m.
“Halloween
will be observed one night only, which will be October 31,”
according
to a motion passed October 7 by the Potts Camp Board of Aldermen.

suspended, 4; no driver’s license/expired driver’s

of insurance, 13; expired tag/no tag, 6; child restraint, 1; careless
driving, 1; disorderly conduct, 2; domestic violence/simple assault, 2;
simple assault, 1; harassing phone call, 1; driving under the influence
1st, 1; driving under the influence 2nd, 1; concealed weapon, 1; hit
and run, 1; petit larceny, 1; and violation of city ordinance loud
music, 2.
