| Lions earn wins at Greenville The Mt. Pleasant Lions youth football and cheerleading team rolled over the competition to defend their status in perfect football weather. Both squads rallied to maintain the status of undefeated as they traveled to Greenville on Saturday, Oct. 18. The peewee squad won 7-0 against the formerly undefeated Greenville Red Hornets. The bantam squad won 26-0 against the Greenville Red Hornets, maintaining their status of undefeated for the current 2008 season. The cheerleaders, along with fans and supporters, kept the teams encouraged as they held the competition scoreless. On Saturday, Oct. 11, the Mt. Pleasant Lions played host to the Water Valley Titans. The Lions would like to give a special thanks to Mayor Andre DeBerry, and Kenneth McMullen, director of the City of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department, for their hospitality and use of Sam Coopwood Park for the day. It was a beautiful day. The bantam cheer squad stole the show with a flawless half-time performance. With a bye this week, the Mt. Pleasant Lions will be ready to face the Oxford Tigers on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Oxford. The peewee squad will defend against the Oxford Tigers with the goal of continuing to be the number one ranked team in their division. The bantam squad hopes to come out on top, ranked number one after winning against the Oxford Tigers. They have shared the number one ranked spot for the past five weeks with the Oxford Tigers. It is not too late to become a sponsor for the 2008-09 season.
