| The great debate Stephanie Movre
I wanted to share with all of you a picture of the welcome center set up in Oxford during the presidential debate. Twenty-seven Mississippi cities were represented in the former L&M Restaurant, located on North Lamar next to Bouré Restaurant. During our down time we walked around the square passing out hand fans and directed people to the welcome center. There also was a volunteer group set up at different spots around the square passing out information on Oxford, the debate and directing people to the welcome center.
Actress Joey Lauren Adams (she was in Chasing Amy, Big Daddy and Michael) also came by the center and was nice enough to take a picture with me! The Wednesday night evening event I attended with the mayor went really well. Of the estimated 3,000 reporters in town, about 1,000 showed up for the reception. I spoke with representatives of several outlets including CBS and NBC. All were very grateful for the fabulous spread and hospitality. They all agreed that they had never been so well received. Happily, Holly Springs was very well represented. |
