Charles Clement Colagross
Charles Clement Colagross, 63, of Olive Branch, died Sept. 28,
2008 at his home. He was a Catholic, a heating and air repairman and a
Mason.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 2 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Memory Hill Cemetery in Memphis,
Tenn. Bro. Eddie Lawson officiated.
He leaves his wife, Priscilla Colagross; his mother Jonell
Colagross of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; two brothers, Johnny Colagross of
Muscle Shoals, Ala., Jimmy Colagross of Killen, Ala.; and a sister, Dr.
Cheri Dunn of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
Annie Jean Kendrick Derryberry
Annie Jean Kendrick Derryberry, 76, of Potts Camp, died Oct.
5, 2008 at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. She was the
widow of William Thomas Derryberry and a retired accountant with the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Salem Baptist
Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro.
Don Hill officiated. United Funeral Service was in charge of
arrangements.
She leaves a son, Jay Derryberry of Potts Camp; two brothers,
Wayne Kendrick of Walls, Doug Kendrick of Memphis, Tenn.; three
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Kendrick; a
brother, Harrell Kendrick; and a great-grandson, Michael James
Derryberry.
Pallbearers were Dustin Lambert, John Hudspeth, Terry Lambert,
David Hill, Billy Gurley and Brian Cheatwood. Honorary pallbearers were
Joe Cooper, J.J. Derryberry and Buddy Smith.
Rita Mae Rose Gray
Rita Mae Rose Gray, 62, of Thaxton, died Oct. 1, 2008 at Ecru.
She was the widow of Morris Gray, a Baptist and a flea market
salesperson.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.
She leaves her companion, Ernie (Jack) Williams; a son, James
Miller; two daughters, Dejuana Smith of Byhalia, Melissa Wright of
Texas; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Ted Louis Harris
Ted Louis Harris, 55, of Coldwater, died Sept. 28, 2008 at
Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of
Masonic Lodge, Greenwood Lodge #68 and a machine operator with Carrier,
Inc. for 18 years.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 4 at Sand Hill M.B.
Church in Lamar, where he was a member. Burial was in the church
cemetery. Rev. Etoy Bogard officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Bernice Echols Harris; two daughters,
Tiffany Harris of Memphis, Tenn., Andrea Collins of Compton, Calif.;
two sons, Mario Harris, Rico Harris, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two
stepdaughters, LaShundra Wooten, Monica Wooten, both of Coldwater; a
stepson, Quanten Wooten of Coldwater; four sisters, Jessie Mae Hampton,
Marsel Owens, Georgia Cole, all of Ashland, Annie Mason of Memphis,
Tenn.; two brothers, Dwight D. Harris of Memphis, Tenn., George Grant
Harris of Ashland and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Tommie Nunnally, Classie
Evans, Mattie Tatum and Willie Louis Harris.
Pallbearers were Ashland High School Class of 1971 and
Brothers of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #68.
Bobbie Jean Hollifield
Bobbie Jean Hollifield, 67, of Lamar, died Oct. 1, 2008 at
Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Tim Hollifield
and a member of Heritage Apostolic Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Skelton Cemetery. Bro. Tony Roberts
officiated.
He leaves four sons, Timothy Wayne Hollifield of Byhalia,
Joseph Michael Hollifield, Kenneth Leroy Hollifield, Terry Dewayne
Hollifield, all of Lamar; a daughter, Valerie Darlene Hollifield of
Hattiesburg; a brother, Odis Rhea Jr. of Lamar; three sisters, Dot
Strickland of Pineville, La., Sue Allert of Rossville, Tenn., Freddie
Joyner of Ashland; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jessie Emmitt Holt
Jessie Emmitt Holt, 60, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly
Springs, died Sept. 29, 2008 at Wesley Highland Manor in Memphis. He
was a self-employed mechanic.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 4 at J.F.
Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel.
He leaves two sons, Marcus Dunlap, Kevin Richardson, both of
Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Joella Jones Holt of Tunica; and a sister,
Ann Ethel Childress of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jermaine Richardson.
Robert Louis Pegues
Robert Louis Pegues, 71, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 2, 2008
at Baptist Hospital, Union County in New Albany. He was the widower of
Franzella Boyd Pegues and a self-employed brick mason.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Kingdom Hall of
Jehova’s Witness in Holly Springs, where he was a member.
Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden cemetery. Wesley Parham
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
He leaves four daughters, Franzetta Pegues of Holly Springs,
Shelia Pegues-Porter of Chicago, Ill., Lesia Pegues-Moore of Memphis,
Tenn., Rose Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; eight sons, Robert L. Pegues Jr.,
Rodney L. Pegues, Ronald Pegues, Eric L. Pegues, Elton Pegues, Charles
Boyd, all of Holly Springs, Rannie Pegues of Memphis, Tenn., Anthony
Boyd of Austin, Tx.; six sisters, Suzette Pegues, Bertha Pegues, Ora D.
Jeffries, Dorothy Martin, all of Holly Springs, Betty Ann Pegues of
Memphis, Tenn., Glennie Brookins of West Memphis, Ark.; three brothers,
Albert Pegues Jr. of Holly Springs, William Pegues, Langston Pegues,
both of Memphis, Tenn.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Boyd.
Pallbearers were Robert L. Pegues Jr., Rannie Pegues, Eric L.
Pegues, Elton Pegues, Ronald Pegues and Joseph V. Porter.
John Russo
John Russo, 42, of Myrtle, died Sept. 29, 2008 in Marshall
County. He was formerly employed at Ashley’s Furniture
Factory.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Bethlehem
Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery in Potts Camp. Serenity
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five children, John Russo Otto, Louis Russo, Joseph
Russo, all of Myrtle, Rebecca Reeves, Matthew Reeves of Posen, Ill.;
his mother, Blanch Russo of Chicago, Ill.; his fianceé,
Dennise Budnik of Myrtle; siblings, Anthony Russo, Cynthia Terrell of
Arizona, Frank Russo of Hickory Flat, Diane Luzar of Potts Camp,
Concetta Rameriz, Margaret Imposino, Dawn Sievert, all of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Russo.
