| Junior high Pats improve to 5-0 The Marshall Academy junior high football team kept its record unblemished last week. The Patriots traveled east on Highway 78 and dominated Tupelo Christian Preparatory School 30-8. They improved to 5-0. Trey
Johnson got MA on the scoreboard with a 14-yard touchdown run in the
first quarter. Chase Ferrell carried for the two-point conversion. The
key play in the drive was Neil Murphy’s 25-yard run. The
visitors upped their advantage to 16-0 at the half. Ferrell hooked up
with Elgin Lafever for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Murphy ran for the
two-point conversion. The key play in the march was Ferrell’s 10-yard
gain on a fourth and eight. Marshall Academy
secured the win with two touchdowns in the third quarter. Ferrell
dashed 39 yards for a score and Murphy added the two-point conversion. Later
in the quarter, Aaron McAlexander picked off his second pass of the
night, returning this one to the TCPS 20-yard line. Murphy ran for the
six points from there. The try-for-two failed. Tupelo Christian scored with 1:50 remaining in the game. On the night, Ferrell carried five times for 77 yards. He was five of seven passing for 69 yards. Josh Mask also picked off a pass - his coming in the end zone to halt a Tupelo scoring attempt. The Patriots host Lee (Clarksdale) this Thurday at 7 p.m.
