Marshall boys clinch top seed in district tourney

Lady Lions, Hawks win in county rivalry By CLAUDE VINSONSports Editor The Holly Springs Lady Hawks would be pitted against a county rival from a different class but with a stellar record. Baseball sign-up set for Laws Hill areaThe Northwest Side Civic Club announced that youth baseball/softball sign-up for the Harmontown-Tyro-Laws Hill area will be held each Saturday on February 9, 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the civic building in Harmontown. All children and youth of T-ball age and older are invited. Cost for each child is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Anyone interested in coaching or sponsoring a team may attend one of the sign-ups or call Max Billingsley at 662-526-5090, e-mail at billingsley1520@bellsouth.net. Byers girls hand Middleton first loss By CLAUDE VINSONSports Editor The H.W. Byers Lions and Lady Lions hosted a team on Saturday evening which hadn’t visited the Lions’ den for over three decades. Parks and rec sets sign-ups, meetings The Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department announces registrations for several activities. Parks and Rec is registering youth who want to participate in baseball and softball for boys and girls ages 4-16. Registration will be held at City Hall, 160 South Memphis Street. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day to register is Friday, Feb. 15. The Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is also offering basketball registration for the men’s 35 and older league and women’s league. There will be a coaches’ meeting on Monday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building, located on North Memphis Street. There will also be a meeting concerning Tae Kwon Do at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building on January 28 at 6:30 p.m. This is for youth and adults.
