Jenkins picks Ole Miss
By BARRY BURLESON
Kenyotta Jenkins still has a couple of years of high school left, but she already knows her college plans.
The Potts Camp Lady Cardinal has verbally committed to play basketball for the Ole Miss Lady Rebels.
“I’m very excited, because it’s my favorite school,” said the 5’11” Jenkins, who has played on the high school team since the seventh grade. “I’ve always wanted to go to Ole Miss. I’m extremely happy.”
Jenkins averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds per game last year as a sophomore.
“Kenyotta is no stranger to Ole Miss,” coach Tana Miller said. “She has attended camps there, and she’s well-acquainted with the coaching staff. They’ve watched her the last few years.
“It’s definitely where she wanted to go.”
Jenkins said she realizes the significance of playing for a Southeastern Conference school.
“It’s a huge honor for myself, my school and my community,” she said.
Jenkins and the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals tip off their 2008-09 basketball season Monday, Oct. 13, at home versus Ingomar.
