Back-to-School Night September 9 Holly Springs
Intermediate School announces its Back-to-School Night for third and
fourth grades on Tuesday, September 9, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Back-to-School
Night for fifth and sixth grades will be held Thursday, September 11,
at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Parents with children at the Intermediate
School are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served. Holly Springs Intermediate School PTA meeting will be held Thursday, September 18, in the library. The
Parent Center located on the Intermediate School campus has third-sixth
grade math books on CD-ROM. Parents can check out CD-ROMs and
download. Don’t allow your child to be left behind! Beverly Phillips is
there daily to assist you. The Parent Center is
still in need of uniforms. Parents, donate those too small uniforms to
the Parent Center. Give Beverly Phillips call at 662-252-7733.
Fourth annual White Oak Pageant to be held September 27 at Byhalia High School In
conjunction with this year’s White Oak Festival, the fourth annual
White Oak Pageant will be held on Saturday, September 27, beginning at
4 p.m. at Byhalia High School gymnasium. The
pageant will feature divisions for boys ages 0-4 and girls ages 0–21.
Winners will be presented at and reign over the White Oak Festival on
Saturday, October 11 (rain date-October 18) in Byhalia. We would like to encourage all youth of the area who meet the requirements to enter this fun-filled pageant. Contestants
are judged in Sunday dress or pageant attire for ages 0–8 and pageant
dress for ages 9-21. Entrants must have lived in Marshall or DeSoto
Counties for at least one year and must have never been married and
never borne a child. The cost to enter is $25
with an additional $10 entry fee to enter any of the additional
categories of Most Photogenic, Best Dressed, and Talent. A 5x7 or 8x10
photo must accompany entries in the Most Photogenic contest. The
deadline for entry is Saturday, September 20 at 6 p.m. Entries forms
are available at Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce or can be requested
by calling one of the numbers listed below. They can be returned by
mail to the address on the form or brought by the Byhalia Area Chamber
of Commerce Office Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. All
