MA softball team routs Lee
By BARRY BURLESON
The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots sent Lee back to Clarksdale August 11 after just three innings on the diamond.
MA dominated 16-0 in the shortened game due to the run rule.
Starting pitcher Lauren Alexander got the win. She struck out four of the six batters she faced. Casey Gibson pitched in relief.
Traci Rodgers and Heather Tomlinson each homered for the Lady Patriots. Getting four runs-batted-in each were Anna Roberts and Robin Bryant. Elizabeth Skelton had two RBIs. Alexander contributed three hits – two singles and a double.
Marshall’s scheduled game against Indianola Academy on August 12 was rained out.
The Lady Patriots were scheduled to host Kirk Academy on Monday of this week and Lee (Ark.) on Tuesday. They visit North Delta Thursday for 4 p.m. (varsity) and 5:30 (junior varsity) games.
They play in the Madison Ridgeland Academy Tournament Saturday, Aug. 23, then host Carroll Monday, Aug. 25, at 4 p.m. and go to Lee (Clarksdale) Tuesday, Aug. 26.
