Hopewell No. 1 celebrate Men’s and Women’s Day
Hopewell No. 1 celebrated Men’s and Women’s Day July 27, 8 a.m. sponsored by Sis. Ruby Mason.
Morning session, call to worship, Pastor Leroy James. Deacons. Bro. Ben Cole called in responsive reading. Announcements, recognition. Bro. Clay Byers gave the acceptance, standing ovation. Music provided by Hopewell. Morning speaker, Dr. Bessie Tables of New Hope Church, dean of the local Congress. Remarks and benediction, Dr. Tables. Afternoon session was at 3 p.m. Call to worship, Pastor Leroy James. Devotion, deacons. Introduction, master of ceremony, Bro. Booker T. Cole. Sis. LaTwyn Sims gave the welcome. Solo by Bro. Robert Taylor. Special recognition award presented to Sis. Ruby Mason. Award presented to morning speaker, Dr. Tables. Men’s and Women’s Day rally solo, Sis. Marsha Gail Finley. Wife of the speaker Sis. Sharon Franklin, introduced speaker Rev. Ronnie Franklin, pastor of Greenwood Church. Beautiful music provided by Hopewell No. 1 and Greenwood choirs. Remarks, benediction, Rev. Franklin. Co-chairpersons: Sis. Bessie Anderson. Finance committee, Bro. Melvin DeBerry. Sis. Easter Marion, Sis. Ira Mae Ford. Program Committee: Bro. Ben Cole II, Sis. Bessie Anderson, Sis. Cynthia Cole, Sis. Ira Mae Ford, and Etoyil Long. A women’s conference was held at Hopewell No. 1 on July 26.
