Byhalia police respond to thefts, other calls
The Byhalia Police Department responded to 42 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – four alarm calls, five
motor vehicle accidents, three disturbances, one domestic call, two
thefts, two escorts, one animal-related call, eight assists, five
medical assistance calls, one harassment, eight miscellaneous calls and
two reports of damaged property. Byhalia police made three arrests on the following charges: • Warrant, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Memphis. • False reporting of a crime. • Warrant, Byhalia Police Department, driving while license suspended, driving on wrong side of road.

Terry Sawyer – ‘a life coach’ By BARRY BURLESON Editor Family and friends filled The Flame at Byhalia United Methodist Church Saturday afternoon to celebrate the life of Terry Sawyer. The 57-year-old Byhalia alderman died July 29 after a short battle with cancer. Tom Sawyer said the gathering was to celebrate his brother’s faith in Christ. “He didn’t want this service to be about him,” Tom said. “His faith brought him peace and comfort.” Full Story

down due to rust, making it unsafe to climb for inspection and
maintenance. The new tower was still under construction on Tuesday of
this week and FM 92.7 is operating under low power while AM 1110 is off
the air until the tower is completed. The new tower, when completed,
will be about 349 feet tall. |
