Byhalia police officers respond to 22 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 22 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – eight alarm calls, one
motor vehicle accident, one theft, one animal-related call, two medical
assistance calls, one harassment and eight miscellaneous calls. Byhalia police made eight arrests on the following charges: • Closed account/insufficient funds bad check. • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. • Domestic violence aggravated assault. • Warrant, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. • Receiving stolen property. • Warrant, Byhalia, failure to appear. • Driving while license suspended, failure to yield. • DUI, improper equipment, no driver’s license, open container.

Patrol reports fatality at I-55 Sgt. Leslie
White, with the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol’s Batesville office,
reported one fatality in Hernando after a two-vehicle collision at
Interstate 55 and Commerce. Travis C. Davis, 19, of 761 Powell Street, Coldwater, was killed following a collision, he said. Davis
was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee and James Johnson, 44, of 205 Old
Highway 7 South, Waterford, was driving a 2005 Peterbilt. Both
vehicles were in the westbound lane and exiting the I-55 ramp when
Johnson’s vehicle was stopped, according to White. Davis’s Jeep
collided with the rear end of Johnson’s Peterbilt, he said.
