| Mt. Pleasant football thanks contributors The
Mt. Pleasant Lions Football and Cheer Organization was formed in March
of 2006 and was under the umbrella of the Mississippi Football League
Program (parent organization, American Youth Football). In
January 2007, the Mt. Pleasant Lions Football and Cheer Organization
was reorganized and is now under the direction of the Mississippi
Football and Cheer League (parent organization, American Youth
Football) to include our cheerleading component and restructured to
where the league is governed by representatives from each team
organization. Our program is a non-profit organization, and is
dedicated to serving over 192 (in its two-year inception) youth in the
surrounding areas of Mt. Pleasant, Byhalia, Slayden, Lamar, Red Banks,
Holly Springs and Ashland in Mississippi as well as Collierville and
Rossville in Tennessee. The mission of our
organization is to provide a healthy, safe and goal-oriented
environment for both at-risk as well as academically-inclined youth
within one community. With this in mind, it is our hope to build a
stronger community by helping children today for a brighter tomorrow. Our
team achievements are as follows: Midget Division-2007 division champs;
Bantam Division-2007 third place winners in regular and postseason; and
Peewee Division-2007 first place winners in regular season and second
place winner in post season. Our community
achievements are as follows, just to name a few – responsible for
obtaining approval to reinstitute a junior high football program at
H.W. Byers Attendance Center for the 2008-09 school year; responsible
for kickstarting a major renovation project at H.W. Byers Attendance
Center to include the construction of an athletic sportsplex which will
include a football field, baseball field, and track; and noted for
being the only organization of its type in Marshall County for the 2007
season. Our 2007-08 business sponsors
(contributed $1,500 or more) are as follows – GS Trucking &
Landscaping Services-Gary Seldon, owner; and Marshall County Board of
