Streeter new warden at Marshall facility By SUE WATSON Jessie Streeter, former chief of security at the Marshall County Correctional Facility (MCCF), has been promoted to warden. He replaces Lepher Jenkins, who was reassigned as warden with a facility in Texas. Teamwork leads to new walking track in Byhalia By SUE WATSON A series of circumstances and hard work proved fruitful for the citizens of Byhalia. The new sign at the town park reads “Walking Our Way To Good Health.”
Ordinance affects fireworks vendors By SUE WATSON A proposed fireworks ordinance was discussed at a public hearing during a recent board of supervisors’ meeting. Kevin Bailey, a vendor in the fireworks business for 25 years, was present and offered suggestions. ‘Misadventures of Little Jerry’ By BARRY BURLESON Jerry Moore, a teacher turned administrator, used to love telling stories from his childhood to his students. “That’s when I made a connection with the kids,” he said. “They realized I was a human being. It took a couple of years in the classroom for me to figure that out.” Byhalia Clydesdale Festival June 19-21; rodeo, entertainment, more Be sure and mark June 19-21 on your calendars. Those are the dates for the annual Byhalia Clydesdale Festival. The event includes entertainment, great food, carnival, rodeo and much more. The entertainment this year is highlighted by Little Texas, which will appear Saturday night on stage. The festival is the main money maker for the Christmas Store, which provides toys and clothes for hundreds of area children who otherwise would miss Ole Saint Nick.
