Joe Gene Elliott
Joe Gene Elliott, 68, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2008 at
Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga. He was a member of Chulahoma MB Church
and a retired business owner.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 17 at Chulahoma MB
Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. John E. Booker
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Alma Harden Elliott of Holly Springs; two
daughters, Doris Gordon, Brenda Elliott Ejimofor, both of Holly
Springs; three sons, Ronnie Elliott, Olanda Elliott, both of Holly
Springs, Reggie Elliott of Olive Branch; 11 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Girtha Richards,
Ethel B. Matthews, Louella Staples, Cindy Harkins; four brothers, C.A.
Elliott, John Elliott, Thomas Elliott, Ruben Pinson.
Pallbearers were Robert Isom, Rodney Elliott, Robert Bell,
Linwood Richard, Sean Eason and Tyrone Richard. Honorary pallbearers
were Ronnie Elliott, Olando Elliott, T.C. Elliott, Ellis T. Dean,
Derick Eason, Reggie Elliott, Charles Matthews, Robert Harden, James
Eason and T.C. Richard Jr.
Edward Benjamin Hogan
Edward Benjamin Hogan, 59, of Holly Springs, died May 14, 2008
at his home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Springs,
a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam, a retired communication officer
with the Horn Lake Police Department. He was a member of the VFW.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on May 17 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Michael
Baker officiated.
He leaves his wife, Lynn Hogan; his mother, Coy Hogan DeBerry
of The Villages, Fla.; a son, Michael Hogan of Potts Camp; a daughter,
Michelle Seale of Horn Lake and three grandchildren.

Autrey Kimmons Jr.
Autrey Kimmons Jr., 52, of Lamar, died May 8, 2008 at his
home. He was self-employed. He was a disabled roofer and construction
worker.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 15 at Powell Chapel MB
Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden
Cemetery. Rev. Henry Kimmons officated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Regina C. Strong Kimmons; a son, Keith
Martell Guy of Holly Springs; five sisters, Etta Shead of Holly
Springs, Shirley Isom of Potts Camp, Gerline Rooks of Hickory Flat,
Jone L. Rogers, Willean House, both of Nashville, Tenn.; and a grandson.
Pallbearers were nephews, family and friends.
Madelyne Marie Nichols
Madelyne Marie Nichols, 1, of Byhalia, died at her home.
Services were held at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with
burial in the Barton Baptist Cemetery.
She leaves her parents, Charles and Anna Nichols of
Byhalia; two brothers, Charles Phillip Nichols, Kaylobe Antoni Moore,
both of Byhalia; a sister, Ambur Elizabeth Nichols of Byhalia;
grandparents, Phillip and Judy Nichols, Sheila and Hurbert Stewart Jr.,
all of Byhalia, Earl Kreinbrook of Ripley; and great-grandparents,
Bessie and Arnold Sitzes of Barton, John and Lou Nichols of Desoto
County, George and Evelyn Craven of Wisconsin, Marlene Craven of
Kalamazoo, Mich.
Sarah M. Coleman O’Mayes
Sarah O’Mayes, 93, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of
Marshall County, died May 8, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of
Fred O’Mayes. She was a member of the Deaconess Board and a
domestic worker with Cooper Robinson in Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 16 at Bountiful Blessings
Temple of Deliverance, COGIC, where she was a member. Supt. Milton
Hawkins officiated. Burial was in historic Elmwood Cemetery. J.F.
Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Nannie O’Mayes of Memphis,
Tenn.; a son, Clarence O’Mayes of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister,
Sallie Coleman of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren 12
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Samuel O’Mayes, Larry Washington,
Kenneth Briggs, Athan O’Mayes, Carl Washington, Joel Beard
and Robert Fluellen.
Cindy Cook Roberson
Cindy Cook Roberson, 49, of Sledge, died May 15, 2008 at her
home.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 18 at Wells Funeral Home
Chapel in Batesville. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery in Crenshaw.
She leaves a daughter, Amanda Roberson Ruth of Senatobia; a
son, Barry Roberson Jr. of Potts Camp; her mother, Rosemary Barlow Cook
of Sledge; two sisters, Faye Cook Cummins of Askew, Glenda Cook of
Sledge; and five grandchildren.
Annette B. Trimble
Annete B. Trimble, 73, of New Albany, died May 13, 2008 at her
home. She was the widow of Carl M. Trimble, a member of Bethany Baptist
Church, and worked at Stratford Manufacturing in New Albany for 42
years.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 17 at Holly Springs
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethany Baptist Cemetery. Bro.
Donald Worsham officiated.
She leaves a daughter, Susan Eitel of Plymouth, Minn.; two
brothers, John T. Bowen Jr. of Oxford, Billy Bowen of Potts Camp; two
sisters, Betty B. Brower of Winona, Ruth Bowen of Memphis, Tenn.; and
two grandchildren.
