• Big trees toppled, utility lines downed

Marshall County took a pretty good hit as Saturday evening thunderstorms and tornadic winds knocked down trees and power poles and hit the substation at Ashland.

Holly Springs Utility Department crews were still working to restore power to isolated outages over the county and two extra volunteer crews were not expected to get power restored to the Snow Lake Community until Tuesday or Wednesday, HSUD general manager John Collins said Monday.

Byhalia police respond to burglaries, fires

The Byhalia Police Department responded to 47 calls during the past week.

Chief Gary Looney released the following report – 16 alarm calls, one motor vehicle accident, five burglaries, five disturbances, two thefts, one escort, one animal-related call, six assists, three medical assistance calls, three fires and four miscellaneous calls.

Byhalia police officers made nine arrests on the following charges:

DUI 1st, careless driving, seatbelt violation, no insurance, open container.
Warrant, Byhalia, contempt of court.
Warrant, malicious mischief.
Burglary of a dwelling.
Burglary.
Driving while license suspended, no insurance, seatbelt violation, no tag.
Warrant, failure to appear, Byhalia.
Driving while license suspended, no insurance, seatbelt violation.
Driving while license suspended.
