Fielder’s Choice By Barry Burleson Liberty ’82 I went downstairs last week and found an old box of memorabilia. I
had to – after watching an emotional Sylvester Croom before and after

The Preacher’s Corner By Rev. Dr. Milton Winter How do you tell Beulah something’s wrong with recipe? You must have known that eventually the preacher
would get around to sharing recipes! Every church worth the name has
wonderful cooks, and while congregations often publish recipes, the
details of recipes are not necessarily the minister’s province. Full Story
Well deserved recognition: Dear Editor, I
would like to give recognition to a man who serves his community well.
His name is Gary Graves. He is a first responder with the Mt. Pleasant
Fire Department. This man has a business to run
that keeps him extremely busy, but he doesn’t hesitate to first respond
at all hours of the day or night, to assist EMS and the fire department. There
have been several occasions that this man and his wife have stopped
what they were doing and brought food to scenes where other fire
departments where fighting fires. They set up tables and coolers,
loaded down with food and drink for the firefighters and EMS workers. Just as quickly as they bring these items they leave without recognition – humble, just want-ing to do something to help. Every
holiday they come by the 911 ambulance service offices and bring food
and other holiday treats. Again not wanting or seeking recognition –
just wanting to say thank you to all the medics for being there instead
of with their families. This past Thanksgiving and this Christmas were no exception. I know personally of the good deeds he does for the elderly and disabled – all without recognition. Our community could use a few more men and women like Gary Graves and his family. Thank you, Gary, for all you and Dixie do for us. God bless. Lori T. Wilson Mgr. Emergystat Ambulance Marshall County
