Rev. S.A. Phillips grand marshal of Lessye Lee Davis annual parade May 3 Pastor Samuel A. Phillips will be the grand marshal of the Lessye Lee Davis annual parade Saturday, May 3. Pastor
S.A. Phillips Sr., a native of Holly Springs, was called to minister
the gospel of Jesus Christ over 59 years ago. He has made himself
available to serve and minister to those in need regardless of race or
church denomination. Currently he is the pastor of Pleasant Grove
Missionary Baptist Church in Red Banks. He has
traveled the southern region extensively and has pastored several
churches in the North Mississippi area (McIntyre, Jones Grove, Union
Valley, Mt. Sinia, Powell Chapel and Pleasant Grove). During
these years of ministry much respect for his leadership evolved. He is
responsible for marrying hundreds of couples, officiating many loved
ones’ funerals, baptizing new converts, praying with the troubled,
counseling problem situations, encouraging the discouraged and visiting
the sick. He is a true example of a pastor. Pastor Phillips possesses a shepherd’s heart because of his deep concern for the people of God. On
any given Sunday morning you can find pastor Phillips spreading God’s
message of love and hope with his wonderful congregation at Pleasant
Grove MB Church in Red Banks. He is married to
Linzell Jones Phillips. They have seven children, Samuel Adams Jr., Ben
Earl, Frank Henry, Dorothy Ann, Shirley Denise, Ruby Dee and Aretha
Debra.
