Cardinals take first

A championship win is a championship win – even if it is by half a point.

The Potts Camp Cardinals won first place in the Division 2-1A track meet April 16 at Charleston. They scored 67.50 points to second-place Coldwater’s 67. Ashland took third with 56.50.

The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals finished third with 30 points – trailing first-place Coldwater (96) and runner-up Ashland (53).

Jaleeza Reed of the Lady Cardinals set a school record with her shot put throw of 35-05.

Varsity boys

100m dash - third, Corey Totten, 11.81; fourth, Larry Miller, 12.07.
200m dash - third, Larry Miller, 23.85; fourth, Corey Totten, 24.05.
400m dash - fourth, George Hampton, 1:01.01; sixth, Corey Totten, 1:03.91.
800m run - second, Chad Randolph, 2:30.00; third, Matt Swinford, 2:32.

The top four finishers in each event qualified for regionals Saturday, April 26, in Tupelo.
