Lady Cardinals fall to rival Lady Rebs
By CLAUDE VINSON
The Hickory Flat Lady Rebels came out six runs better than their rivals from neighboring Marshall County, the Lady Cardinals, in a fast pitch softball game on Friday afternoon.
Because of a change in schedule time, The South Reporter news crew didn’t arrive at the Potts Camp diamond until the sixth inning. The game, which was originally scheduled for 5 p.m., began at 3:30.
The Lady Rebels, with a record of 5-5 on the season, were out front by eight scores after the top of the sixth.
Pitcher Tesla Tucker was zipping them in there for Hickory Flat in the bottom of the sixth. She held the Lady Cardinals to no hits for that turn at bat.
The Lady Cardinals, 4-4 on season, had beaten Strayhorn the day before.
Potts Camp managed to score a pair of runs in their last at bat, to end up losing 10-4.
The pitcher for Potts Camp was Kayla Yarbrough.
It was adreary looking afternoon weather-wise, but the fans attending didn’t seem to mind and coach Kevin Harris was pleasing the outdoor appetites with his “famous Kevin Dawgs.”
