Marshall rallies to beat Colts By BARRY BURLESON Editor Hunter Bolden took it deep at just the right time Thursday night. He provided a huge three-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. Marshall Academy dramatically defeated Lee (Clarksdale) 9-6 at home to go to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in district. After
two were out in the inning, Wesley Harris reached first on a bloop hit
and stole second. Tyler Childers was hit by a pitch. Bolden then drilled the baseball over the right field fence. The junior also doubled and singled in the win. Justin Gray added a single and double. Shane Campbell got the mound win in relief of starter Will Patton. Campbell improved to 2-0. MA fell behind 5-0. It sliced the deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth and took the lead 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth. But the Colts tied in the sixth. In
the top of the seventh, Lee loaded the bases with one out. The next
batter popped up. Then with two outs and a full count on the batter,
the Patriots picked off the runner at second base. That set the stage for Bolden’s seventh-inning heroics. MA
played in the Delta Academy Tournament on Monday and Tuesday of this
week. Saturday, they visit Harding Academy (Tenn.) for 12 noon and 2:30
p.m. games. Next Monday, March 17, the Patriots visit Indianola at 4
p.m., and next Tuesday, March 18, they host Oxford at 5 p.m.
