Marshall Academy will be well represented in this week’s Mississippi Private School Association all-star basketball games. MA’s
Craig Dailey will be the head coach of the North AA-AAA boys team. He
will be joined by senior Patriot players Gene Alexin and Nick Tate. There will be four all-star games on Friday at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton. The
schedule includes – Class A Girls, 11 a.m.; Class A Boys, 12:45 p.m.,
Class AA-AAA Girls, 2:30 p.m. and Class AA-AAA Boys, 4:30 p.m. The
remainder of the North AA-AAA boys roster, in addition to Alexin and
Tate, includes Pate Shackleford, Pillow Academy; Nathan Dye, Jackson
Academy; Chris Carpenter, Starkville Academy; Bo Craig, Pillow Academy;
Evan Cartledge, Jackson Academy; Adam Cummings, Washington School;
Caleb Bradshaw, Indianola Academy; Mason Canoy, Canton Academy; Lance
Jones, Leake Academy, Tyler Jones, Leake Academy Dailey will be assisted by coach Steven Makamson of Pillow Academy All-State Tournament Alexin was also named to the All-State Tournament Team, as was MA Lady Patriot Traci Rogers. Both
the Patriots and Lady Patriots enjoyed outstanding seasons – the boys
finishing 24-8 and the girls 24-17. Both won district championships and
the MA boys also took the North State crown. The
teams were eliminated in the opening round of the State Tournament at
Grenada – the Patriots by Brookhaven and the Lady Patriots by Prairie
View.
