Local News BriefsCandidates qualify; deadline to sign up is Thursday Six more candidates have signed up for local political races since the publishing of last week’s newspaper. James Richard Anderson (D) has added his name to the list of those running for Marshall County coroner. Signing up to run for supervisor, District 5, were Democratic candidates Kenneth McMullen and Jimmy Siddall and Republican candidate Edward Overall. George W. Kahrs (R) has qualified to run for constable, North District. Clencie L. Cotton (D) has qualified to seek the justice court judge, North District, position. The deadline to qualify is Thursday, March 1. Candidates for county races should go to the circuit clerk’s office in Holly Springs to qualify. The first primary is Tuesday, Aug. 7, with the runoff set for Tuesday, Aug. 28. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Marshall-Benton Job Fair Thursday in Holly Springs The 2007 Marshall-Benton Job Fair will be held on Thursday, March 1, at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Holly Springs. As of last week, 40 employers had registered. The job fair is free to all job seekers. It is recommended job seekers dress appropriately and bring a resume. Holly Springs School District board meeting March 8 The next regular meeting of the board of trustees of the Holly Springs School District, usually scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, will be held Thursday, March 8. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Holly Springs High School Library, 165 North Walthall Street, Holly Springs. County school board moves next meeting to March 6 The Marshall County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, March 6, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the board of supervisors’ room at 103B Market Street, Holly Springs.
