High splits with Dragons By BARRY BURLESON Holly Springs basketball teams split against district opponent Marks Palmer on Tuesday night of last week. The Lady Hawks lost the road game 63-60, while the Hawks defeated the Dragons 59-51. Four Holly High girls combined for 54 of the 60 points in a losing effort. Tamekico Johnson poured in 18, while Ebony Taylor added 17. Katia Isom and JaShanta Walker followed with 10 and nine, respectively. The Lady Hawks were in control much of the way. They led 20-15 after one quarter, 33-26 at the half and 44-34 after three periods. But the home team rallied big-time in the fourth - outscoring Holly High 29-16 for the three-point win. Felicia Harris had a game-high 30 points for Palmer. Eighteen of those came in the fourth. Cordell Jefferson and Jeremy Jeffries combined for 41 points in the Hawks eight-point victory at Marks. Jefferson led the way with 22, 18 of those in the first half. Jeffries followed with 19, 15 of those in the second half. The Hawks were up 28-15 at the halftime break. Milton McDonald tossed in a game-high 26 points for the Dragons. Scheduled home games against Shannon Saturday night were cancelled. The Holly High boys entered play this week with a 10-14 record, and the girls stood 7-15. Schedule The Class 3A Lady Hawks and Hawks wrap up the regular season this week. They visited H.W. Byers Tuesday. They host Class 5A Tupelo Friday night. Next week, February 12-16, Holly High and Byhalia basketball squads will compete in the Division 3-3A Tournament at Water Valley. The Holly High boys entered play this week with a 10-14 record, and the girls stood 7-15. Report News:
