Galena School presents Christmas program

The Galena School Christmas program was presented
Tuesday, December 11, at 6 p.m. Students from kindergarten through
eighth grade participated. The kindergarten and first grade students
performed four musical selections with enthusiasm and excitement. The
selections included “Holly Jolly Christmas,”
“Nuttin’ for Christmas,” “Go,
Tell It On the Mountain,” and “How Great Our
Joy.” The second and third grade students performed
“Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” and “Children,
Go Where I Send Thee,” wonderfully. Following their
performance, the recorder choir which includes students from third,
fourth, and sixth grades played “Jingle
Bells.” They did a beautiful job.
After the recorder choir performance, the fourth and
fifth grade students performed “The Twelve Days of
Christmas” and “The Night That Christ Was
Born.” This group did a great job. The
sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students performed a musical called
“Cool Yule.”
Some of the outstanding characters in the musical
included Santa, performed by Davion Milan, The New Elves on The Block,
portrayed by LaTara Jones, Taniesha Beard, Allie Milam, and Terrica
Davis. Fa La Cool and the Gang were portrayed by Kianna Sessom, Alyssa
Velazquez, and Tierica Tunstall. Destiny Braswell potrayed Loretta
Poinsettia; she looked beautiful.
The Reindeer Sisters included Jasree Powers, Amber
Johnson, and Renique Hardaway. The Snow Surfers included
Kianna Sessom, Alyssa Velazquez; and Dyveon Jones did a fantastic job
as Mr. Scrooge. Kiana McCray portrayed Tina Tinsel. Tyiesha Jones and
Keandrea Newsom performed along with her. Along with other choir
members, these students gave a great performance singing and dancing to
the music of the “Cool Yule.” The final
selection “Alleluia, Praise Jehovah” was performed
by students from grades two through eight combined, featuring Davion
Milan, soloist. The overall performance was excellent.
With the support of principal, Charlie Hall, the
collaborative efforts of the Galena staff, and Robbin J. Logan, music
director, the program was a great success.
